When it comes to concrete warehousing we can provide

• Tilt-up or Tiltwall construction
• Precast construction.

Tilt-up and tiltwall both refer to the same process of manufacture and construction. Forms are made on-site and poured, making large slabs called panels. They are then tilted into position on the building slab. Because no transportation to site is required these panels can be immense in size – greater than 20 metres in width and 28 metres in height - thus providing great flexibility in design and planning.

Because of Newcastle’s climate, tilt-up and tiltwall is an ideal method of construction. As construction is outdoors and requires no freezing temperatures, there are few, if any, days throughout the year where work need stop.

Precast concrete walls are similar to tiltwall construction except their forms are poured indoors at an off-site facility. This means manufacture is not dependent on weather conditions, but does mean that panels are limited to transportable sizes.

What are the advantages of tiltwall construction to you as the client?

Savings in construction costs – Made of local materials, materials don’t need to be shipped in, and are less prone to price fluctuations. Crews are more likely to be local and smaller in size compared to traditional methods of construction.

Faster construction schedule – Tiltwall delivers buildings quickly. Tiltwall is a faster method of construction and there are no transportation delays.

Safety – As the project takes place mainly on the ground, rather than on scaffolding, risks are reduced.

Durability – Tiltwall constructions are highly durable. This method has been used for decades on building and they show little apparent wear.

Fire safety – Tiltwall panels meet the fire-resistant standards of even the most demanding building codes. A 16.5 cm concrete wall has a fire resistance rating of four hours or more. Tiltwall panels are often used in a building’s interior as fire walls.

Ease of Maintenance – Tiltwall building require little in the way of on-going maintenance. Concrete is impervious to insect and rodent infestations.

Repairs and expandibility – In the event of damage by a forklift or truck, damage is more localized than compared with steel buildings. Modular design affords easier repairs and expansion of the building.

Reduced insurance premiums – As tiltwall constructions have superior fire resistance and have been proven to withstand severe weather conditions and earthquakes, they typically attract reduced insurance rates when compared to steel or other type construction.

Reduced operating costs – Concrete provides excellent insulation for temperature and sound control, leading to reduced running costs and reduced noise levels both inside and out. External environmental noise is kept out and if a tenant runs a noisy business they will find it easier to comply with local noise ordinances.
